FREE Real Estate Facebook Covers or Make Your Own!

Published by Brian E Adams on

When starting a new Facebook business page or group, one of your first tasks will be creating a cover image or video for your header.

The best dimensions for this header are 851 x 315 pixels.

You’ll want to edit a nice cover to match your real estate brand. But in the meantime, here are some great real estate Facebook business page covers to get you started!

Find Pictures for your Own Facebook Cover

Get your own free real estate cover photos from a free stock photography site, like:

They don’t have to be the perfect dimensions to work.

Create Your Own Facebook Cover Photo

Try to go one step further than a stock photo of a nice house.

I recommend using a picture you’ve taken.

  • photo of you
  • your team
  • a local landmark

Once you have a photo in mind, you probably still want to modify, resize, add text, and brand it.

There are many image editors, but the best two options are probably Canva for a quick and easy job and Photoshop for the more serious digital artists.

Canva

Canva is a free graphics tool to make infographics, social media content, and, yes, real estate cover photos!

In fact, Canva comes with a Facebook cover template right out of the box, making it super easy to quickly get started.

Below is a tutorial for making a cover photo in Canva, courtesy of Amy Starr Allen!

Photoshop

Photoshop is the premium (and paid) image editing software on the market.

It is overkill for the vast majority of Realtors, and you can use free software instead. But if you have Photoshop for your business or other activities, here is a quick tutorial on one idea to make your own quickly.

Facebook Cover Photo Examples from the Pros

I browsed through some of the top teams according to Real Trends just to look at what they had going on for their cover image.

Below were a few that I think captured the variety of style and strategy choices.

Stephen Cooley

Here is the classic team photo, doctored up to a neat black-and-white background in Photoshop, I assume.

Watters International Realty

Chris Watters’ Facebook has a classic skyline (Austin, TX) graphic with simple, minimalist branding, and prominent contact information.

The Maez Group

The Maez group is an example of what at least any agent should be able to do: take what looks like a stock photo and at least get your brand in. This looks good!

Pinky Knows Naples

Pinky Benson is on my list of top-performing Facebook agents, and has a solid Facebook cover with her eye-catching branding!

Mark Spain

Mark Spain’s page focuses on his unique selling proposition (USP): fash cash offers!

Robert Dekanski

Robert Dekanski is another one putting his home sale guarantee USP front and center.

Kris Lindahl

Kris has a fun cover touting his team’s connection with the local hockey team.

Facebook Cover Videos!!!

Facebook introduced video banners in 2017. They were awesome!

And then Facebook discontinued the option in 2021. Because…???

Below is an example from Team Pepine on what these looked like. It was probably one of the best videos I found. Branding. The team. Aerial. UVP. It was great!

But now Team Pepine is reduced to a static image again. 🙁

Unfortunately, video headers are no longer an option for Facebook.

Tips for What to Include in Your Cover

I concentrated on a few principles when planning and designing my cover:

  • Local landmarks. I want to make sure my audience knows this is an authentic video of my local market – not some stock image. So I include recognizable local features. Water towers with the city logo is a good example!
  • Cool Aerial. Who doesn’t love aerial? It shows that I am a tech-forward real estate business. If you don’t have a drone, you can get some shots from a local real estate company.
  • Branding. Strongly brand your image. Facebook is a common destination for consumers looking up businesses, and it will be your first impression to all your Facebook visitors.
  • Present your Value Propositions. What sets you apart from your competition? Share your value proposition to home buyers and sellers front and center!
  • Include yourself. This is a people business. Show your prospective clients who they will be working with! And it is proven that images with humans in it are more engaging.

Outsource it!

Fiverr It!

I’m going to make fiverr a verb.

If picture editing is too much work, or you just don’t have time, there are 5110 people on Fiverr as of this writing eager and waiting to do a sweet Facebook business profile cover for you.

You’ll still need to send them the photos and/or video, but the editing and design work it completely off your shoulders. And it’s super cheap.

Professional Social Media Services

There are real estate social media marketing companies that will not only help curate content and nurture engagement, but will also help you create your page. Including your real estate cover.

CityBlast is an example of such a company. For a monthly fee, they will manage your social presence, including not only Facebook but Twitter and LinkedIn as well. They source local content to share, share your listings, and … create a custom Facebook page cover when you get started with the annually paid plan.

Conclusion

Your real estate Facebook cover may often be a buyer or seller’s first impression of you and your business. Don’t waste it on low-quality junk.

There’s no excuse to put an hour’s effort into making a respectable social media banner to represent you online.
